Here's a bit about me........

 With over 23 years in the hair industry, I know what it feels like to be just a hairdresser working long hours, giving your all, and still feeling like there’s more out there.

After running and selling a successful salon, I rebuilt my business from home while raising a young family. I created the freedom, flexibility, and income I always dreamed of, on my terms. 

Now, I help other independent hairdressers do the same. I’m here to guide you from stylist to confident, empowered business owner through real strategies, mindset shifts, and the support you’ve been craving.

What kind of insurance does a hairdresser need?

All hairdressers will need public liability as a minimum. For individual hairdressers (mobile hairdressers or those renting a chair in another salon) Guild also include treatment risk cover of $500k.

For larger hair salons and barber shops, we provide a complete business package policy which can include Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, building and contents cover, glass, money and business interruption cover.

 

How do I know what insurance I need for my hair salon in Australia?

The type and level of insurance cover you need for a hair salon or barbershop can vary depending on the size of your business, the equipment and machinery you have, your property type, and several other factors. I’m a mobile hairdresser. Do I still need Public Liability?

Even as a mobile hairdresser or barber you will still need to have your own public liability cover. This also applies if you rent a chair at someone else’s salon.

What is an example of public liability for a hairdresser?

This is when someone is injured on your property, for example if they slipped on hair and sustained an injury. It also covers damage to third party property, such as your sign blowing over on the pavement and damaging a car, or spilling dye on someone’s jacket.

 

What are some examples of Treatment Risk?

An example would be when someone has an adverse reaction to a treatment you have provided, such as an allergic reaction to a hair dye. Another example could be hair dye or product running into someone’s eyes causing injury, or being cut by scissors.

 

I’ve taken a new commercial contract which requires that I have full professional indemnity rather than just treatment risk. Does Guild provide this?

 Yes, we can quote $10m or $20m limits for professional indemnity. You may want to consider this if you run a large salon, or work on contracts where your professional negligence could cause significant financial loss to your client.
